Philadelphia Shout-Outs in Governing Magazine

Governing Magazine profiles the City of Philadelphia for two of its landmark projects.

The first article investigates the new trend for cities to build parklets – parking spaces that are adapted for public recreation.  MOTU’s Andrew Stober was interviewed for the article saying that parklets “can change the shape of our city” and “[are] part of a larger movement in the city as we think about how to make it a more livable place.”

The second article commends Carlton Williams, Philadelphia’s former Deputy Streets Commissioner (Williams is now the Licensing and Inspection Commissioner), for his innovative approach to making a cleaner and more sustainable city.  Williams is responsible for initiating the BigBilly trash can and recycling bin program in the city, as well as the annual Philly Spring Cleanup.
