The Sustainable Streets Scavenger Hunt!
October 1, 2012
Come see how the City of Philadelphia is reinventing the way its city streets are designed to be safer and more environmentally friendly. As part of October’s Design Philadelphia Festival, the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities is teaming up with the Philadelphia Water Department and the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability to host a Sustainable Streets Scavenger Hunt!
The scavenger hunt will lead a group of urban explorers through the streets of Philadelphia to see some of Philadelphia’s most innovative street designs that increase urban green space, calm traffic, reduce stormwater runoff, and promote safe streets for pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars.
The event is Saturday, October 13 and starts at 11:00am at the Columbus Square Recreation Center on the corner of 12th and Reed Streets. From there, teams will head on bike or by foot to find elements of the city’s Green and Complete Streets projects. At 3:30pm, at the final stop, a happy hour will be held at Cantina Los Caballitos, at 1651 East Passyunk, where the highest scoring teams will be able to win prizes including a bicycle rack and a rain barrel!
