Tidbit Tuesday — Data Shows a Decrease in Institutional Energy Usage

Every Tuesday, the Mayor’s Office of Transportation & Utilities (MOTU) posts a map or graphic that tells a story about transportation or utilities in the City of Brotherly Love.   This week we will be exploring how the Philadelphia City Government has decreased its yearly energy usage between 2008 and 2012.

This reduction of energy usage by the Philadelphia City Government is helping Philly to become a greener and more sustainable place.  It shows how Philadelphia is moving to achieve the goal of 30% reduction in City Government energy usage by the year 2015, as laid out in the Office of Sustainability’s Greenworks Plan.

*The statistics used in this graphic are based on energy data tracked by the Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities and the statistic in the Greenworks Plan, page 6, which states that Philadelphia used 100 Trillion BTU’s of energy in the year 2006.
